Goodnight Mind
Colleen Carney & Rachel Manber

This book is smaller than the rest and has helpful bite-sized nuggets of advice for dealing with insomnia. I often recommend this for people who have completed CBT-I but want something to read and refer back to as they continue to work on their sleep.

For health professionals

Treatment Plans and Interventions for Insomnia: A Case Formulation Approach
Rachel Manber & Colleen Carney

This is the book I most highly recommend for clinicians who are learning CBT-I or want a good reference to have on their shelf. The case formulation approach is my preferred approach.

Cognitive Behavioral Treatment of Insomnia: A Session-by-Session Guide
Michael Perlis et al.

Solid guide to CBT-I. The session-by-session format is helpful if you are earlier on in learning how to do CBT-I.

Treating Sleep Problems: A Transdiagnostic Approach
Allison Harvey & Daniel Buysse

Highly recommend this especially for people who have some behavioral sleep experience under their belt. Reading this book will enhance the way you conceptualize cases.

Adapting Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia
Sara Nowakowski et al.

This book is a great addition to the literature and covers a wide variety of different populations for which adaptations might be needed. Highly recommend for people who have some CBT-I experience already.

Treating Post-Trauma Nightmares
Joanne Davis

Great book about trauma-related nightmares and their treatment with ERRT (Exposure, Relaxation, and Rescripting Therapy).

Behavioral Treatments for Sleep Disorders
Michael Perlis, Mark Aloia, & Brett Kuhn

This is a good book to have on your shelf for reference. Succinctly covers the main BSM interventions (through time of publication in 2011).

A Clinical Guide to Pediatric Sleep: Diagnosis and Management of Sleep Problems
Jodi Mindell & Judith Owens

Comprehensive overview of pediatric sleep problems. Even if you only treat adults, this book is a great reference and is very helpful for studying for the DBSM exam.
